St John’s D.S.G., established in 1897by the Society of St John the Divine, is situated in
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. It is a leading Anglican, independent, day and boarding school
for 600 girls (Grades RR – 12), and is a member of the Independent Schools’ Association of

TO QUALIFY TO JOIN OUR JUNIOR SCHOOL INTERN PROGRAMME YOU WOULD NEED TO:
Be 21 years or older.
Be currently studying a Bachelor of Education degree (Foundation orIntermediate Phase).
Be in your 3rd, 4th or post-graduate year of study.
Be warm, engaging,resilient, honest, genuine, empathetic and kind.
Have excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
Have strong values that align to the Christian ethos of the school.
Have achieved an academic average of 65% and above during your degree (advantageous).
Have a high level of computer competency and be willing to learn new systems.
Have a clear criminal clearance certicate.
Be willing to apply for SACE registration and clearances with the Child Protection and SexualOffenders Registers.
There is an opportunity forfemale applicants with a driver’s license to live and work in the
Boarding Establishment (in a single capacity) and the applicant’s willingness to do so will be anadvantage.
OUR EXPECTATIONS ARE THAT YOU WOULD:
Commit to a one-year, fixed-term contract conditional on your performance, effective from January 2026.
Register and study during your year with us and perform well academically.
Immerse yourselffully in the life of our school and involve yourselfin our co-curricular activities,
boarding duties, transport duties, tutoring, coaching sport, outreach and clubs.
Learn how to teach while you study and show self-discipline and enthusiasm during yourlearning
journey with us.
Be excited about learning how to integrate technology into the curriculum, using various
electronic media in the classroom.
